Poem a Day December #13

So...I was reading Billy Collins’s Whale Day earlier this week and enjoying his witty, unique worldview, before stopping after ”Me First” to make sure the wee lad had completed his schoolwork for the day.

Then today, I found a page on Twitter called #Poetryin13, @poetryin13 which is dedicated to short, 13 word poems using a single word as a prompt. Today’s was “meteors,” a word which is featured in “Me First.” So, being a sucker for coincidence I decided to try my hand at this short form poetry.

Last Night at the BBQ.

“Meteors!” she snapped,

“Not meatier,”

as my joy departed

beneath the glowing sky.
