It’s not an exaggeration to say that book reviews are the currency with which an author’s career is either bought, sold or ended altogether.

Like with stocks, if you dig my writing, you can go long buy leaving a review online. If you dislike my writing, you can sell me short by leaving a negative one. And, if you absolutely hate my work you can bankrupt my career by not leaving one at all. The bottom line is that an author’s career (my career) is dependent upon reviews.
